THE DESKS FOR SPECIFIC CONSULTANCY ARE ACTIVATED

Specific learning disabilities (DSA) have finally found an adequate response in Alto Friuli. The project, started with the conference organized by the Municipality of Tolmezzo 29 October 2010 in Tolmezzo and followed by the training course, divided into several meetings and aimed at teachers, has seen more than 60 teachers from schools in Carnia, Gemonese and Tarvisiano of 18 institutes of different orders and degrees, with the guidance of Dr. Cristiana Melon of the S.C.O. of Child Neuropsychiatry and Pediatric Neurology of the IRCCS Burlo Garofolo of Trieste and of Dr. Elena Bortolotti of the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Trieste.

The awareness and specific preparation of teachers who have become representatives for this subject at their schools was dedicated to this phase. The next step was the launch of a traveling consultancy desk in the schools of Carnia, Gemonese and Tarvisio under the guidance of Dr. Germana Englaro and Dr. Ingrid Bersenda. The door was activated in 3 educational circles, 6 comprehensive institutions, 2 lower secondary schools e 6 secondary schools for a total of 109 complexes to which teachers and families can access for specific consultancy.

In this way, a real service distributed throughout the territory was established, at the individual school sites at a rate of two or three monthly meetings, for the collection and examination of the reported problematic situations and possible sending for diagnostic intervention at the Health Services Company No. 3 “Upper Friuli”.

From a very first evaluation it can be stated that all this activity represents the response that schools have been waiting for for some time, to support the problematic learning situations of a fairly large number of students. From the data collected, following the first month of activity, in fact, it emerges that the request for advice from parents, teachers and students, for the personalization of teaching and for the study method in cases of learning difficulties it represents the 76% of consultancy compared to more generic requests.

Now the next step will be, once the project is finished, that of maintaining the service in a stable form in the territory, bringing it up to speed with the adequate financial interventions that state law provides and with the participation of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.

The municipal administration of Tolmezzo, which has taken on the task of promoting teacher awareness and training activities, expresses deep gratitude to the General Management of the Alto Friuli Health Services Company for having financially supported the project, as well as the team of Dr. Marco Carrozzi of the S.C.O. di Neuropsichiatria Infantile e Neurologia Pediatrica dell’IRCCS Burlo Garofolo di Trieste che l’ha redatto e sostenuto.

Dopo quell’appuntamento iniziale, il percorso è continuato con un corso di formazione, divided into several meetings and aimed at teachers, has seen more than 60 teachers from schools in Carnia, Gemonese and Tarvisiano of 18 institutes of different orders and degrees, with the guidance of Dr. Cristiana Melon of the S.C.O. di Neuropsichiatria Infantile e Neurologia Pediatrica dell’IRCCS Burlo Garofolo di Trieste e della dott.ssa Elena Bortolotti della Facoltà di Scienze della Formazione dell’Università degli Studi di Trieste.

The door was activated in 3 educational circles, 6 comprehensive institutions, 2 lower secondary schools e 6 scuole secondarie di secondo grado per un totale di 109 plessi cui i docenti e le famiglie possono accedere per consulenze specifiche.

“In questo modo – spiega Mario Cuder, assessore all’istruzione del comune di Tolmezzoè stato istituito un vero e proprio servizio distribuito sul territorio, presso le singole sedi scolastiche con ritmo di due o tre incontri mensili, for the collection and examination of the reported problematic situations and possible sending for diagnostic intervention at the Health Services Company No. 3 “Alto Friuli”. From a very first evaluation it can be stated that all this activity represents the response that schools have been waiting for for some time, a sostegno delle situazioni problematiche di apprendimento di un numero abbastanza importante di allievi”.

Now the next step will be, once the project is finished, that of maintaining the service in a stable form in the territory, con degli sportelli permanenti, bringing it up to speed with the adequate financial interventions that state law provides and with the participation of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
